We set out in 2016 as a small group of scientists and entrepreneurs with a simple goal: to make cannabis products that we’d be proud to put out into the world.

We knew cannabis-derived CBD products were bringing relief to many, but we also saw that they were some of the most expensive items on the shelf. That didn’t seem right to us.

We started to work with local farmers to make affordable CBD products for friends, family, and members of our collective. Before long, we realized that our efforts were starting to make an impact. We heard from those who came to rely on our products, and find real benefit from using them. And they could afford to use them!

Our vision became clear: we’d make affordable, high quality CBD products for those who rely on them.

Proof aims to create a business that lifts up those around it and make products that we are proud of. We treat people fairly, whether they’re our employees, local farmers, or customers who have come to rely on our products and need access to them affordably.

We focus on our mission by keeping our costs low; with a very small and dedicated staff, straightforward packaging, and no fancy advertising ploys, we pass every penny we can to the consumer so they can get the relief they need without breaking the bank. Where we don’t skimp is in the quality - we only use the best, healthiest ingredients in our products, to ensure that every Proof product aids only in benefiting each person’s individual body and needs.

We have folks from all walks of life tell us how Proof products have changed the way they live their lives; so we’ve dedicated ourselves to keep ahead of regulations and changing political climate around cannabis to be sure our products are available to those who need it no matter what while the regulated cannabis industry finds its stride.

Our mission shapes everything about what we do: from how we source materials, to how we make our products, and even how we build our team. We are fortunate to have a very small team of extremely talented and dedicated individuals, and we strive to include those who are often underrepresented in the industry; people of color, womyn, trans and queer folk. We realize that we can only hope to serve a diverse client-base if we understand and represent a diverse client-base.

  • How much should I take?

No one knows your body and your tolerance as well as you. The right dosage for one person could be ten times the right dosage for another! That’s why we don’t make claims about how much you should take, but rather suggest how to find the right dosage for you. With all of our products, we recommend starting small and increasing as desired.

For our 20:1 ratio, 2 capsules or 1 dropperful (1.0mL) is a good place to start, as it is minimally psychoactive. For our 1:1, we recommend 1 capsule or 1/2 dropperful to start. But for our THC tincture, which is very high potency and psychoactive, we recommend starting with a few drops and seeing how you feel.

Effects can be delayed up to 1-2 hours, so be sure to wait a while before taking more.

  • How much THC/CBD is in a capsule?

For 1:1 capsules, each capsule contains approximately 10 mg CBD and 10 mg THC.

For 20:1 capsules, each capsule contains approximately 10mg CBD and 0.5mg THC.

For THC capsules, each capsule contains approximately 30 mg THC.

These amounts may differ; each batch is individually tested, and the package will be relabeled if it varies greater than 10% from the intended dosage per package.

  • How much CBD/THC is in a dropperful?

For 1:1 Tinctures, each dropperful (0.5ml) contains approximately 10mg CBD and 10 mg THC

For 20:1 Tinctures, each dropperful (0.5ml) contains approximately 10mg CBD and 0.5mg THC.

For THC Tinctures, each dropperful (0.5ml) contains approximately 30mg THC.

These amounts may differ; each batch is individually tested, and the package will be relabeled if it varies greater than 10% from the intended dosage per package.

  • What strain are your products made from?

Our products are not strain-specific. We use a highly refined cannabis distillate in our products, which eliminates the terpenes that define the strain, but retain the composite cannabinoids of the plant.

  • Are your products full-plant or full-spectrum?

Our products are not made from a full-plant extract but rather a full-spectrum cannabinoid distillate. We do this intentionally to enhance the effects of the cannabinoids themselves, and avoid possible side-effects that people can experience from things like chlorophyll and some specific terpenes.

  • Why are my capsules liquid/solid?

Our capsules are made with coconut oil and are designed to be solid at room temperature to avoid leakage. However, temperatures in your home, car, or bag can fluctuate. If the contents are heated, the material in the capsule can liquify, and may leak. We recommend keeping capsules in a cool, dry place to get the best shelf-life and consistency.

  • How are your products tested?

Our products are tested multiple times throughout manufacturing.

First, we test the plant material for pesticides and potency. Then, after extraction and distillation, we test the cannabinoid distillate again for pesticides and potency to be sure that no contamination or concentration of pesticides has occurred. We then formulate the final products, which are tested by batch for potency, pesticides, foreign materials, residual solvent, microbial presence, mycotoxins, water activity, and heavy metals.

Compliant with California laws and regulations, final products must pass this final batch testing in order to be sold at retail market. If a product fails for potency (varies larger than 10% of claimed potency), it will be relabeled to reflect the actual potency of the batch before being sent to the retail market.

  • Are Proof products organic?

Per Federal regulations, Cannabis cannot be classified as “Organic.” That being said, we only use cannabis cultivated without the use of pesticides. All Proof products also pass rigorous pesticide testing as well as other quality assurance, outlined in the question above!

  • Why is my product a different color than last time?

Cannabis oil (the main contributor to the color of our products) can vary in color for numerous reasons due to differences in plant material. CBD-rich oil is typically lighter in color than THC-rich oil. Also, the amount of oil used in each batch also differs dependent on the potency of the oil. Therefore, each batch’s color can differ in the yellow/gold shade spectrum.

  • Are your products vegan?

Yes! All of our products (including the capsules!) are made without animal by-products.

  • What are your capsules made of?

Our capsules are entirely vegetable based and contain only two ingredients: HPMC and water. HPMC stands for hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, and is derived from vegetable cellulose. 100% natural, our capsules contain no preservatives, gelatin, wheat, gluten, animal by-products or starch, and they are made from pure cellulose of either pine or poplar.

  • What carrier oils are used in your products?

In our capsules, we use expeller-pressed, RBD Coconut oil as a carrier oil.

In our tinctures, we use expeller-pressed MCT Oil. MCT (medium-chain triglycerides), or FCO (fractionated coconut oil), is coconut oil that has undergone a heating process to separate and isolate medium-chain fatty acids that are liquid at room temperature.

Both oils are healthy and safe. They also partner well with the cannabis oils to maximize bioavailability and deliver the cannabinoids to the endocannabinoid system of the body.
